Chinese industry numbers expected to dip

Published by Steve Coleman on February 22, 2012

Chinese manufacturing is expected to stumble for a fourth-straight month in February.

While a week-long holiday is expected to mess with the numbers for the first two months of the year, the HSBC Holding Plc and Markit Economics index gave expectations for the period a 49.7 preliminary reading.

The survey said purchasing managers gave the economy an official 48.8 reading for January. Anything below 50 is a contraction in the economy.
