Vale unveils $2-billion Clean AER Project

Published by Stephanie Brooks on June 22, 2012

Sudbury nickel producer, Vale, officially launched its Clean AER Project today, in a groundbreaking celebration that marks one of the largest single environmental investments in Ontario’s history.

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, government cabinet ministers, community leaders, and local residents and workers gathered to help announce the “Atmospheric Emissions Reduction” initiative that will see sulphur dioxide emissions at Vale's Sudbury smelter reduced by 70 per cent from current levels.

The project also hopes to reduce dust and metals emissions a further 35 to 40 per cent by the end of 2015.
