Gross domestic product by industry increases in April

Canada’s GDP by industry rose overall 0.3 per cent in April 2012, predominantly as a result of a jump in mining and oil and gas extraction. After inching up 0.1 per cent the previous month, April felt a rise in wholesale trade, transportation services, as well as agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting sectors. Manufacturing experienced a slight dip, as did construction and durable goods production.
