Natural gas production increases in December

Published by Steve Coleman on May 02, 2012

Canada's natural gas industry was more than 15 per cent busier in December 2011 than it was a month earlier.

Numbers were up across the board for the industry with higher domestic gas plant and refinery production filling the gap for fewer imports.

Total Canadian supply in December was more than 2.9 million cubic metres, while total demand for gas increased to 3.145 million cubic metres from the previous month's 2.632 million cubic metres.

Besides importing just 23.1 million cubic metres for the month, natural gas exports increased to 700 million cubic metres from the previous month's 603.3 million cubic metres.
