Dollar reaches parity with US

Stronger manufacturing numbers world-wide helped push the Canadian dollar above par against the US dollar for the first time since Oct. 31 on Feb. 1.

The dollar closed at US$1.0009 with speculators gambling that the economy is starting to show signs of getting stronger.
